Lil Nas X was arrested in August 2025 for resisting arrest and assaulting three police officers. The arrest came after the singer was found walking in the streets of Los Angeles in his underwear.

Lil Nas X, real name Montero Lamar Hill, seeks diversion for his felony police battery case, stemming from his arrest in August.

Hill appeared in court on Thursday (Mar. 12), and his lawyer Christy O’Conner asked for a short delay so that she could file a motion to transfer the case into a diversion program, according to Rolling Stone. She didn’t specify the type of program, but she’s waiting on an “expert report” to support her request.

Upon leaving the Van Nuys, California courthouse, Hill spoke with reporters — though, he didn’t answer any questions.

“All I wanted to say is to my fans, I really love, and I miss you, and I appreciate your support so much, and I can’t wait to be back hugging you guys,” Hill said before blowing a kiss. “You guys have a good day.”

Hill would stop to ask a busker to play a song, which resulted in the busker playing Radiohead’s “Lucky” as Hill tapped his foot. Hill handed the busker $100 before heading off to the rest of his day.

Jensen Pawley, the busker in question, told Rolling Stone that it “was a great moment” and that Hill is “a nice guy.”

The “SCOOP” singer previously had a hearing in September, during which his lawyers said he was in treatment at a facility.

“You heard the ‘treatment’ word. We’re doing what is best for Montero from a personal standpoint and a professional standpoint, but most importantly, for his well-being,” Hill’s lawyer Drew Finding said after the hearing. “He is surrounded by an amazing family, an amazing team of people that care about him and love him. And we’re just addressing those issues.”

As previously reported, Hill was arrested in August 2025 after he was caught walking in the streets of Los Angeles in just his underwear. Prosecutors said he was “strolling naked” along Ventura Boulevard in Studio City around 5:40 a.m. when police arrived.

They allege HIll assaulted responding officers who attempted to take him into custody, injuring three of the officers. He was charged with three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.

Hill later pleaded not guilty to the charges. If convicted, Hill could spend up to five years behind bars for the incident.

Following his weekend stint in jail after his arrest, he spoke out on social media about the situation.

“That was f–king terrifying. That was terrifying,” Hill said in a video posted to his Instagram. “That was a terrifying last four days, but your girl is gonna be all right.”

Hill will appear again as the Los Angeles Court County judge ordered for the case to return on April 6.
