What’s Tea? The British Beckhams and Their Family Drama Explained

The Beckhams have been embroiled in a tense feud, the latest moment coming in the form of Christmas posts and Instagram Stories.

The Beckhams have been embroiled in family feud, notably Brooklyn and wife Nicola Peltz against everyone else. The drama appeared to have ramped up around the time of the couple's 2022 wedding

Nicola Peltz Beckham, an American actress and the wife of Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, recently posted a carousel on Instagram with a caption that many felt was aimed at her in-laws, Victoria and David Beckham. The innocent caption wished everyone “a merry christmas and a happy new year” full of love, peace, and happiness. 

The comment section exploded with people mentioning the alleged family feud. Even the former famed blogger of the early and mid-2000s Perez Hilton joined the fray with his own messiness.

A follower wondered why the couple didn’t show love to the Beckhams, while another person noted Brooklyn should see his parents as life is so short. The Beckham parents would later post Christmas photos themselves with many thinking it as a response to Brooklyn.

As the alleged shots back and forth had followers chiming in, many may wonder how the supposed beef began. 

What is the Origin Story for This Family Feud? A Messy Timeline

According to an August 2022 Page Six article, Peltz and Victoria were involved in a “cold war” and a source claimed they couldn’t stand one another. The same source alleged that Victoria was upset when Brooklyn posted a magazine cover that deemed Peltz “the New Mrs. Beckham.”

The alleged beef between the mother and daughter-in-law duo was made worse when Peltz wore a Valentino dress to her wedding rather than one from Victoria’s line. Peltz later cleared up the rumors when spoke to Variety.

“I was going to [wear Victoria Beckham] and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realized that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress,” Peltz told the publication. “She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn't want to wear it. That’s where it started, and they ran with that.”

For some time, the beef appeared nonexistent as the couple attended Victoria’s 2023 fall-winter fashion show in Paris. In February 2024, Peltz and Victoria posed for a mirror selfie as Victoria was prepping for an upcoming fashion show in Paris. In December 2024, the couple would spend the holiday season with the Beckham family.

The mess reheated in March 2025 as the couple skipped out on David’s 50th birthday party in Miami. According to a TMZ article, published in April 2025, brothers Brooklyn and Romeo were not on speaking terms. The deterioration of the brother relationship allegedly stems from Romeo’s relationship with Kim Turnbull, a London-based DJ and model. 

TMZ alleged that Brooklyn was concerned about Turnbull’s intentions with Romeo. Not only did Brooklyn have these concerns, he allegedly had a romantic connection with Turnbull several years ago. Cruz, another Beckham brother, denied the dating rumors regarding Brooklyn and Turnbull in an Instagram comment section.

As David’s actual birthday is in May, he would later have other birthday celebrations closer to his actual birthday. Peltz and Brooklyn wouldn’t attend any of those birthday celebrations, either. A source told PEOPLE that the tension between the couple and the rest of the Beckhams wasn’t beyond fixing. 

“The relationship is definitely not beyond repair. They love and are always there for [Brooklyn]. They’re just hurt and disappointed that he’s playing no part in family life,” the source told the publication.

Though, another source told Us Weekly that Victoria and David had “thrown in the towel over the whole thing.” The insider confirmed to Us Weekly that Peltz and Brooklyn wanted a “separate meet-up” with David for his birthday, but the family denied the suggestion. 

“David and Victoria just want to treat everyone the same and approach life like a family and the family does things a certain way,” the source told Us Weekly. “But Brookly isn’t playing it like that, and everything is a drama.”

It later comes out that Peltz and Brooklyn didn’t attend the celebration due to Turnbull’s attendance. A source alleged to PEOPLE that Brooklyn didn’t want to be in the same room as Turnbull, noting that the Beckham family knew he’s not comfortable around her.

Turnbull would later speak out via her Instagram Stories in June 2025, officially denying the dating rumors regarding her and Brooklyn.

“I’ve avoided speaking on this topic to prevent adding fuel to the fire, however it’s come to the point where I feel the need to address it so I can move on,” she wrote in her Instagram Stories. “I have never been romantically involved in any capacity at any point with the person in question. Nothing between us has occurred further than a school friendship at age 16. I would like to remove myself from the ongoing conversation [and] set the record straight for the sake of everyone involved.” 

The past three years of family drama has resulted in Nicola and Brooklyn and brothers Romeo and Cruz unfollowing one another. Victoria and David did not attend Nicola and Brooklyn’s vow renewal in August. Reports also came out that Brooklyn unfollowed his parents, resulting in his parents allegedly returning the favor. 

Cruz would come to social media to deny the claims that Victoria and David unfollowed Brooklyn. 

“My mum and dad would never unfollow their son … Let’s get the facts right. The woke up blocked … as did I,” Cruz said in his Instagram Stories. 

By that point, both Nicola and Brooklyn did not follow the rest of the Beckham family. 

Brooklyn Finally Speaks Out, Notably Clearing Up the Wedding Dress Fiasco and Other Rumors

As people were still dealing with the holiday drama, and the subsequent headlines, Brooklyn finally spoke out via his Instagram Story. He talked about the drama surrounding the time of his wedding, specifically his now-wife’s wedding dress.

“My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress [at the] eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress,” Brooklyn wrote in the post.

He alleged that his parents tried to bribe him to sign over the rights to his rights, pressing him to sign before the wedding date. When he refused, the relationship between him and his parents was strained ever since. 

His parents, specifically Victoria, allegedly called him “evil” for including his nanny and Nicola’s nanny at their table during the wedding. The nannies were included at their table because their husbands weren’t in attendance, Brooklyn explained. 

In the next slide, Brooklyn noted that his family has “consistently disrespected” wife with his mother inviting women from his past into his life. He noted that the move was to make both himself and Nicola uncomfortable. Even though the alleged disrespect was rampant, the couple still tried to make it out to London for his dad’s birthday celebrations.

“Despite this, we still travelled to London for my dad’s birthday and were rejected for a week as we waited in our hotel room trying to plan quality time with him,” Brooklyn said. “[David Beckham] refused all of our attempts, unless it was at his big birthday party with a hundred guests and cameras at every corner.”

Brooklyn alleged that his father would only agree to meet if Nicola didn’t tag along. He called the request “a slap in the face.” When the family made a trip to Los Angeles, Brooklyn claimed they refused to see him. 

The 26-year-old notes that his family values public perception “above all else,” and how the family relationship is based on how much everyone posts on social media. He ended the post with how the rest of the family doesn’t reciprocate the love the couple gives. 

“We’ve gone out of our way for years to show up and support at every fashion show, every part, and every press activity to show ‘our perfect family,” Brooklyn wrote. “But the one time my wife asked for my mum’s support to save displaced dogs during the LA fires, my mum refused.”

Victoria Beckham Accepts Honor and Thanks Family While Not Directly Addressing Feud

The British designer was named a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in France on Monday (Jan. 26), and later posted a celebratory Instagram slideshow. 

“Thank you also to business partners who believed in me, my family, and especially David — my husband, and original investor. I couldn’t be more grateful,” Victoria wrote in the Instagram post. In another post, she described how she “couldn’t be more grateful.” 

Neither posts hint at any of the drama or Brooklyn’s Instagram Story posts. The rest of the Beckham family has also remained silent on the matter, and it’s unclear how the dust will settle.
